About Utah's Online Library

Pioneer is turning 21 this year, and in honor of this special occasion we received a new name. Utah's Online Library was chosen by the Utah State Library Division (representing public libraries), the Utah Education Network (representing K-12 libraries), and the Utah Academic Library Consortium (representing college and university libraries), together with Utah's public and school librarians. Utah's Online Library still provides public libraries with great online resources: Over Drive, One Click digital, EBSCOhost databases, Learning Express Library, Heritage Quest Online, Utah Newspapers, and more!

Pioneer was created as virtual library by the Utah State Library Division in cooperation with Utah's public libraries in 1995. It is one component of the statewide project, which serves Utah's public schools and academic institutions, as well as patrons of public libraries. In addition to this website, for all Utah residents and public libraries, there are two other websites under the banner: Academic, designed to meet the needs of university and college students, and K-12, designed for primary and secondary school students and teachers. Additionally, Preschool Pioneer, for children ages 3-6, was launched in the fall of 2008.
